MANILA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- More gas stations across the country that had temporarily shut down due to fuel supply disruptions resumed operations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has said.
In a statement posted Saturday, PNP said that as of 9 p.m. Friday, the number of temporary closures of 425 stations had been reduced to 409, out of 14,479 stations being monitored.
Most shutdowns were attributed to supply constraints of petroleum products, while stations that resumed operations did so after restocking fuel.
Police also intensified enforcement operations on acts that had worsened fuel access and disrupted prices, filing seven cases against individuals accused of hoarding and profiteering.
Amid the Middle East conflict, the Philippines has declared a state of national energy emergency since March 24. ■
